(KRON) -- A 32-year-old San Francisco man was arrested after San Bruno police responded to several reports Wednesday of a male running in the roadway with a gun.

San Bruno police responded at 9:14 p.m. near  El Camino Real and San Marco Avenue but were unable to locate a suspect.

Investigators determined a shooting had occurred in the area after they located numerous spent shell casings. Police said they later identified a suspect and gained substantial leads in the case, which soon led them to a residence in the 100 block of San Marco Avenue.

Police said, “A search of the residence led investigators to locate an unregistered firearm, along with spent shell casings and unspent ammunition. Investigators also determined that the suspect was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.”

The man was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on multiple charges.
